Dr. Charles E. Carrier, age 87 of New Bethlehem, passed away late Saturday evening, June 18, 2016 at his residence, following a brief illness.
Born April 3, 1929 in Summerville, Jefferson County, he was a son of the late Dr. David E. Carrier and Ruth Sowers Carrier. He was a graduate of the Summerville High School.
Dr. Carrier earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Pittsburgh, continuing and completing his education at the University of Pittsburgh Dental School.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Japan during the Korean War.
Dr. Carrier owned and operated a dental practice in New Bethlehem for 33 years, retiring in 1991.
He married the former Gloria R. Wiewiora on September 3, 1955 and she survives.
Dr. Carrier was member of the New Bethlehem Lions Club and the Pennsylvania Dental Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travelling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: David Carrier of Vermont; Chas Carrier of Dallas, Texas; Scott Carrier of Hinesville, Georgia; Eric Carrier and wife, Kelly, of Lacey, Washington and Gretchen Kunselman and husband, Ted, of New Bethlehem.
Also surviving are five grandchildren: Sarah Carrier Lucas and husband, Garrett; Emily Carrier, Alaina Kunselman, Adam Kunselman and Rebecca Kunselman.
Dr. Carrier was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Ivan Carrier.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Father Samuel Bungo officiating over the service.
Interment will follow in the Vandervort Cemetery in Summerville.
