John C. Bish, age 90, of New Bethlehem, went home to be with the Lord at 5 p.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 at Laurelbrook Landing in Brookville, following a brief illness.   

      Born January 19, 1927 in Kellersburg, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Hetrick Bish.

     He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

     John was a World War II veteran of the United States Army.

     He married the former Mary Izzi on August 19, 1950. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2011.

     John retired from Crawford Furniture after 38 years of service.

     He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as an usher and on many boards within the church.

     John enjoyed hunting and was huge fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
     He is survived by two children, John M. Bish of New Bethlehem and Karen M. Nulph and her husband, Steve, also of New Bethlehem; two grandsons, Andrew Nulph of Chicago, Illinois and Anthony Nulph of New Bethlehem.

       John is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Catherine Swartz of Brookville and Lucille Souders of Norristown; one brother-in-law, Joe Izzi of Clarion and numerous nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by an infant sister, Alice and sisters, Viola and Anna Mae; brothers, George, Mason and Amos and numerous nieces and nephews.
     There will be no calling hours. 
     Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 201 Washington Street, New Bethlehem. Father Samuel Bungo, parish priest, will serve as celebrant.

    Military honors will be accorded in the church following the mass.  The Walter W. Craig American Legion Post #354 of New Bethlehem will perform the honors.

     Interment will follow at the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in New Bethlehem. 

     Memorial contributions may be given in the name of John C. Bish to the St. Charles Catholic Church, 201 Washington Street, New Bethlehem, PA  16242.
