John E. “Huffy” Huffman, age 64, of Knox and formerly of Koppel, passed away Wednesday evening, November 29, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, following an illness.

     Born July 28, 1953 in New Castle, he was the son of the late John William Huffman and Clara Bodendorfer Huffman.

     He graduated from Lincoln High School in Elwood City in the Class of 1971 and continued his education by earning and BS degree.

     John married the former Janet K. McCleery on July 20, 1985 and she survives.

     He was a program specialist for Training Towards Self Reliance (TTSR) of Sligo and was a former car salesman. John also managed a deli, Pizza Joe’s and numerous restaurants and hotels.

     He was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church.

     John enjoyed coaching the Legion, Little League and Junior League baseball teams as well as cooking, hunting, fishing, sports and high school basketball games.

   Survivors include his wife, Jan and their two sons:  J.C. Huffman and wife, Danielle, of Lisbon, Ohio and Josh Huffman of Elizabethtown; one sister: Deborah Reed and her husband, James, of Beaver Falls and their children: Jim and his wife, Cassie and Elizabeth and her fiancé, Matt Foley.

     John is also survived by additional nieces and nephews, including Heather and Keith Miller and their children and Kate Ruhlman and her children.

   In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.

     Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Knox United Methodist Church, 9724 Route 338, Knox.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in the church with Reverend Wade Barto, church pastor and Reverend Brian Hauser, pastor of the Edenburg Presbyterian Church in Knox, co-officiating.

     Interment will follow in the Knox Union Cemetery.
