Karen Lenk Berkery, 63, of Havelock NC, formerly of Shippenville passed away on the evening of Thursday, August 25, 2016. Karen was a graduate of Keystone High School, class of 1971.

     She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Havelock NC and served as a teachers assistant at Gurganus Elementary School for 19 years.

     Karen has always put the love of family, friends, and students above all else and welcomed everyone into her home.

     She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mike Berkery:  two children, Mindy Berkery and Tim Berkery (Britney); her father, Gene A. Lenk; siblings;  Gene A. Lenk, Joyce Lloyd, John Lenk, and Marilyn Grimm.

      Karen was preceded in death by her mother Marvis Lenk and her daughter, Kelly Renee Berkery.

     The family will receive friends from 11am until 1pm on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Oster officiating.

     Interment will be in the Knox Union Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the name of Karen Berkery to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Liver Foundation.
