L. Frank Agnello

September 12, 1956 ~ May 8, 2017 (age 60) 60 Years Old

     L. Frank Agnello, age 60, of Knox, passed away Monday afternoon, May 8, 2017 after suddenly being stricken ill while working outside at his home.

Born September 12, 1956 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Elizabeth L. Dunkle Agnello.

He was a 1974 graduate of Cranberry High School but attended school in the Keystone school district for 10 years prior to moving to Seneca.

Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He travelled extensively during his 30-year career as a field representative servicing and repairing compression equipment for the Ingersoll Rand, Dresser-Rand and Atlas Copco companies.

A skilled musician and pop music fan, Frank was a fixture in many local rock bands for the past 47 years.  These groups included Dickerson Earthquake, Racket, Roadhouse, E53 and the CUBS.  His primary instrument was bass guitar but he also dabbled on the six string. He often posted video clips on Facebook of himself showing the bass line on well-known songs.

He loved his hometown and served as Mayor of Knox Borough from January 6, 2014 until his passing.

Frank’s “Monthly Mayor’s Report” and his personal profiles of Knox businesses drew many readers online and in print.

He was a member of the American Legion and Rod and Gun Club, both of Knox and the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed hosting his twin brothers and others for Steeler and Pirate games.

Survivors include two brothers:  Jason Agnello and wife, Brenda, of Oil City and Joseph Agnello and wife, Karen Kane, of Cranberry Township; nieces and nephews:  Jamie Agnello of Brooklyn, New York; Lindsay Krisher and Jeremy Agnello of Oakland, Maryland; Rachael Agnello and Lauren Agnello, both students at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

He also maintained a relationship with former step-daughter, Lisa Bowser of Knox.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Knox United Methodist Church, 628 West Railroad Street, Knox with the Reverend David Coul, pastor of the church, officiating.

The Belin-Bowser Post #720 American Legion of Knox will accord Military Honors at the church to start the services.

The Knox American Legion Riders will provide an escort to interment at the Knox Union Cemetery.
