     Valeria C. “Mickey” Bonanno, age 97, of Seminole, Armstrong County, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2017 at her home following a brief illness.

      Born November 15, 1919 in Sclemo, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Guiseppe Nicolli and Maria Veronesi Nicolli.

     She came to Seminole at the age of three and lived there for the remainder of her life.

     Mickey married William “Bill” Bonanno on November 2, 1946 in Seminole and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1997.

     She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem, the Distant Senior Center and was a homemaker.

     Mickey had a gift for sharing her home, heart and homemade foods with friends and family.  She loved Bingo, Tombola (Italian Bingo), a good polka and baseball and enjoyed a cup of coffee on her porch swing with friends and family.

     Survivors include two sons:  Jim Bonanno and his wife, Keli and Randy Bonanno and his wife, Debbie, all of Seminole; two grandsons:  Matt Bonanno and his wife, Stephanie, of Seminole and Dominic Bonanno of Pittsburgh.

    Mickey is also survived by two great grandchildren:  Kobe and Kira Bonanno of Seminole and a brother, Renaldo "Ronnie" Nicolli of Syracuse, New York.

    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

    Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 201 Washington Street, New Bethlehem.  Father Samuel Bungo, parish priest at St. Charles, will serve as celebrant.

     Interment will follow in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
