William W. Master

August 11, 1935 ~ March 9, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old


     William W. Master, age 81, of Knox passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, March 9, 2017 at his residence, following a sudden illness.

     Born August 11, 1935 in St. Petersburg, he was the son of the late William S. Master and Ruth D. Logue Master. He was a graduate of Parker High School.

     He married Barbara LaRee Murray on March 1, 1957 and the couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

     Bill started working at Parker Glass plant in 1952 and came to the main office in Knox in 1953 as a Mail person. He held several different positions at Knox Glass, Glass Containers, Chattanooga Glass and Diamond Bath Hearst in Indianapolis, Hayward, California and Tampa, Florida. He retired from Ball Corporation in Muncie, Indiana in 1998.

      He was a member of the Memorial Church of Our Father-Episcopal in Foxburg, where he was a past treasurer; formerly served as Chairman of the Board of KGG Federal Credit Union and was a past board member of Knox Ambulance.

    Bill enjoyed camping.

     Survivors include his wife, Barb; daughter, Sandi L. Bryan and her husband, Patrick, of Philipsburg; one granddaughter, Nicole Bridgette Simone Master of Endeavor, Wisconsin; Four nephews:  David Black, Don Black, David Fleming and Alan Zerbe; one niece, Rona Fleming Zerbe; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Ronald Fleming of Knox and numerous great nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Michael Master in December 2001; a sister, Jane Black; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert T. "Ab" Murray and Alice V. Reed Murray and a brother-in-law, Donald A. Black.

     Family and friends will be received from noon to 2 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

     Funeral services will be held at the Memorial Church of Our Father-Episcopal, Route 58 in Foxburg at 11 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 with Father Geoffery Wild officiating.

     Interment will follow in the Knox Union Cemetery.
