Donald H. Rossman, age 87, of Knox, died early Thursday morning, May 17, 2012 at home after being stricken with a sudden illness.
Born October 8, 1924 in Salem Township, Clarion County, he was a son of the late Harry and Mabel Cotherman Rossman.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving during WW II and was retired from Knox Glass.
On May 23, 1947, Don married the former Neva Louise Ziegler. Don and Neva would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this coming Thursday.
He attended the Bethany Evangelical Church, was a member of the DeHart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post #997 of Lamartine and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and horses.
Survivors include his wife, Neva; one son, Ronald S. Rossman of Knox; three daughters: Ruth Bechtel and her husband, Donald, of Emlenton; Barbara I. Rossman of Knox and Donna L. Freebourn and her husband, Phillip, of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren: Matthew Mason, Michelle Alexander, Travis Rossman, Heather Rossman, Jonathon Rossman and Christopher, David, Sarah and Shannon Freebourn; two great grandchildren: Kyle Alexander and Isabella Mason and one sister, Velma Meals of Emlenton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Barry Mason; a brother, Dale and a sister, Verla.
Friends will be received from Noon – 2 and 6 -8 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 in the funeral home with the Reverend Chris Lewis officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the DeHart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post #997 of Lamartine at the start of the service on Monday.
Interment will follow in the Knox Union Cemetery in Knox.
