John A. Troup, age 65, of New Bethlehem, died Friday morning, January 25, 2013 at his home following an illness.
Born March 16, 1947 at the family home in Fairmount City, Clarion County, he was a son of the late Thomas Charles and Leona Radaker Troup.
On August 5, 1989 he married the former Pamela J. Smith. She survives.
After 35 ½ years of service, John retired in 2006 as an operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
Upon his retirement he was finally able to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a camp, where he enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.
John loved to do woodworking and wood refinishing and created and refinished many or the features in his home.
During his illness, he looked forward to the visits of his VNA nurse, Trudy Reinsel, who always seemed to brighten his day.
In addition to his wife, Pam, John is survived by a daughter, Shelly Draa and her husband, Scotty, of Fairmount City; three grandchildren: Brandi, Meagan and Johnny Stephens and four great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers: Jimmy Lee Troup and his wife, Brenda, of Mayport and Tom Troup and his wife, Karen, of New Bethlehem; two sisters: Ruthie “Sis” Adams and her husband, Stan, of Hawthorn and Laura Bish of New Bethlehem; his mother-in-law, Janet Smith of New Bethlehem; a special niece, Kelly Adams, numerous nieces and nephews and his dog, Buckwheat.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy Joe Troup; a brother and sister, Bob Troup and Shirley Dinger; father-in-law, Donald Smith; brother-in-law, Roger Miller and a nephew, Rick Miller.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 301 Penn Street, New Bethlehem. Reverend Randy Evans, Clarion/Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, will officiate over the service.
