Keith Allen Matthews, age 52, of Distant, Armstrong County, passed away Monday afternoon, September 11, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

     Born June 8, 1965 in Brookville, he was a son of Jane E. Pendleton Matthews of Brookville and the late Robert A. Matthews.

     Keith was a graduate of Redbank Valley High School and worked for Asplundh as a tree trimmer.

     He married the former Lori Wert on October 28, 2006 and she survives.

     Keith was a member of the VFW Club in New Bethlehem and loved to golf and watch the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers.

    He loved all animals, but he had a special place in his heart for his own cats, Lilly, Tilly and Milo.

     In addition to his mother and wife, Keith is survived by his brother, Robert D. Matthews and friend, Doreen, of Shippenville and two sisters: Rhonda Lynn Kiehl and husband, Curt, of Hawthorn and Mary Kathleen Kriebel and husband, Bill, of Lucinda.

    Keith was preceded in death by his father and grandparents: John and Berneda Matthews and James and Violet Pendleton.

     Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem. A time for remembrance will follow at 4 p.m.

     At Keith’s request, there will be no viewing.
