M. Arlene Sherman of Lamartine passed away October 11, 2018.
Born April 11, 1929, in Emlenton, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Rankin and Laura Burke Rankin.
On July 16, 1946, she married Donald F. Sherman. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2001. They shared 55 years of marriage together.
Mrs. Sherman was a member of the Salem Reformed United Church of Christ in Lamartine; the Ladies Auxiliary of the DeHart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post of Lamartine; the Order of Eastern Star in Emlenton and TOPS of Knox.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, canning, the outdoors, family dinners, the TOPS girls and helping others. Her kindness and thoughtfulness will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Sherman is survived by her children, Larry Sherman and his wife, Roberta, of Seneca; Yvonne VanTassel and her husband, Terry, of Ocala, Florida and Dale Sherman of Knox; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Stalker of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald James Sherman; a sister, Myrtle Logue and five brothers, Donald, Darryl, John, Keith and Paul “Pete” Rankin.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with the Reverend Chris Lewis, pastor of the Salem Reformed United Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will take place in the East Unity Cemetery, Cherry Valley, Butler County.
