Nancy Kay (Hetrick) Ace, age 78, of Knox, passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, in the early hours of Thursday, April 25, 2019.
Born July 6, 1940, in Kittanning, she was the only daughter of Carl E. and Eulala A. McAvoy Hetrick.
On December 27, 1958, Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Ace. Over their remarkable 60 years of marriage, Nancy and Floyd built a large family who will miss her dearly.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Nancy was a member of the Grace E. C. Church in Ninevah for 50 years. She served in many capacities in the church and was involved with Bible School and Bible quizzing as her children were growing.
She enjoyed her time as a Brownie leader and enjoyed sewing, was well known for her famous homemade bread and rolls, tending to their garden, canning, relaxing on her back porch and visiting or calling as many family members as she could in a day.
Spending time with her family was above all her most favorite thing.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Floyd; younger brother, Dan Hetrick of Kittanning; four children: Timothy Ace and his wife, Debra; Susan Ace Shaner and her husband, Rick; Jeffrey Ace and his wife, Robin, all of Knox and Carolyn Ace Parkes and her husband, Tim, of Cranberry; 13 grandchildren: Corey Shaner, Benjamin Ace and his partner, Reuben; Cody Shaner and his wife, Tini; Matthew Ace and his significant other, Leah Matthews; Sarah Ace Rex and her husband, Scott; Keri Parkes; Chelsey Shaner and her fiancé, Scott Kesler; Isaac Parkes and Grant, Clint, Johnathan, Jhoselyn and Olivia Ace.
She is also survived by four great grandchildren: Luca, Dane and Reid Shaner and Lailaih Rex.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Allen Ace and twin brothers, Bary and Gary Hetrick.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Grace E. C. Church, 2561 Grace Church Road, Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Grace E. C. Church with Reverend Rick Osberg, pastor of the church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Starr Cemetery in Ninevah.
