Nancy Margaret (Stewart) Chandler

    Nancy Margaret Chandler, age 88, of New Bethlehem, passed away early Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

     Born June 11, 1930 in Toby Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob MVO Stewart and Margaret A. Rimer Stewart.

     Nancy graduated from Sligo High School in the class of 1948 and graduated from cosmetology school in 1949.

     She married James Ardelle Chandler on June 8, 1950 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2016.

     Nancy was a beautician for over 50 years and a member of the Oakwood Presbyterian Church until its closing.

    She enjoyed playing cards and 500, gardening and flowers, but her main joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

     Nancy is survived by five children:  Margaret Watkins and her husband, David of New Bethlehem; Connie Snyder and her husband, Barry, of New Bethlehem; Sandra Barrett and her husband, Ken, of Kellersburg; Carrye-Lynne Barrett and her husband, Ronald, of New Bethlehem and Andrew Chandler and his wife, Lisa, of Brookville; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Beth Chandler of Meadville and a brother-in-law, Paul Chandler of New Bethlehem.

    In additions to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by a son, Earle James Chandler; granddaughter, Gretchen Elizabeth Snyder; two brothers, Allen and James and three sisters, Lydia, Nettie and Eleanor.

     At Nancy’s request, there will be no visitation.

    The Chandler family invites family and friends to join them for a celebration of Nancy’s life from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

    A private family service will follow at Noon in the chapel officiated by Reverend Robert Ryver and Nancy’s grandson, Daniel Barrett.

     Interment will take place in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.
