William Joseph “Bill” Shettler, age 87 of Emlenton, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Clarview Nursing Center in Sligo.
Born February 28, 1932 in Knox, he was a son of the late Thomas Rell and Mabel Dittman Shettler.
Bill married Mary Annabelle Crissman on April 19, 1958 at the Grace E.C. Church in Ninevah. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2014.
He retired from Knox Glass after 33 ½ years of service as a high lift operator.
Bill worked as a security guard at Cranberry Mall and was a long time employee for the William N. Rupert Mortuary Inc. in Knox.
He enjoyed woodworking and yard work.
Bill was a member of the Edenburg Lodge in Knox and the New Castle Consistory.
He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Bill is survived by his two daughters: Debra Salisbury (Dale) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Sharon Gibson (James) of Turkey City; his son-in-law: Bob Paddock of Franklin; four grandchildren: James Gibson (Stacey), Jennifer Elslager (Nick), Andrew Salisbury, and Andy Salisbury (Dawn); three great grandsons; Brenton and Cadien Gibson and Nate Elslager.
He is also survived by a brother: John “Jack” Shettler (Carol) of Arizona; a sister: Diane Rouse (Bob) of Cooperstown; and a special friend: Sandy L. Winger of Knox.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter; Karen.
Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary Inc., 430 Mendenhall Ave. Knox, PA 16232.
A Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will follow in the funeral home with Rev. Korona Say, officiating.
Interment will be held in the Knox Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in the name of William Joseph Shettler to the Clarion Forest V.N.A., 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214.
