Carol Ann Durkin, age 81, of Erie, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on June 22, 2025—on her way to meet Jesus.
Born in Erie on September 29, 1943, she was the daughter of Ford W. Eisenman and Amelia Carone Eisenman.
Carol graduated from Academy High School in Erie and attended a two-year business program. She worked as an administrative assistant for the City of Erie Engineering Department, retiring after 37 years of dedicated service.
Carol was a strong, independent woman whose life was marked by her deep faith, love for her family, and appreciation for the beauty of nature. She loved gardening, collecting rocks and beach glass, and sharing her creative spirit through “Carol’s Creations.” She touched the hearts of everyone she met and truly embodied the love of Jesus in how she cared for others—especially “the least of these.”
One of her greatest accomplishments was teaching her family the enduring values of faith, family, and love. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured and the kindness she showed.
Carol is survived by her four children: Richard Durkin of Clarion, Carla Hart of Erie, Joy (Randy) Bauer of Fryburg, and Amelia (Angelo) Anderson of Clarion; eight grandchildren: Sarah Hart, Therese (Jay) Simpson, Jamey (Hong) Hart, Amelia (Ross) Kirby, Kara (Alex) Gunter, Katherine (Nate) Hair, Angelia Anderson, and Amelio Anderson.
She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Skylin, Jaimey Jo, Lily, Layken, Jay Jr., Jude, Jett, and Noah; two sisters: Nancy Eisenman-Elwell of Erie and Kathy Eisenman; and three nephews: Anthony (Jessica) Eisenman, Ford (Trevor) Eisenman, and John Eisenman.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on July 8, 2025, at St. Michael Church, 18765 Route 208, Fryburg.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Faller/Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fryburg.
