On Nov 16th, 2021, God called Chester Richard Carpenter, age 82, into his loving arms. Chester--known to friends and family as Dick--was born in Beaver Falls, PA in 1939, and met and married the love of his life, Patricia Erma Carpenter in 1958, going on together to have seven sons, Chester Edward Carpenter, Robert Wesley Carpenter, John Dudley Carpenter, Richard Dean Carpenter, Patrick Ellis Carpenter, Brian Scott Carpenter, and David Brennan Carpenter.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dick went on to work for General Motors until retirement. Dick loved to fish and tell corny jokes, both of which he passed on to his eldest grandson. Always ready with a word of encouragement or a timely joke, Dick lived the best life he could--one of hard work, fierce individualism and a heart devoted to seeking God and His Kingdom.
Dick is predeceased by his wife Patricia Erma Carpenter, his parents, Chester Eldrin Carpenter and Margaret Anna Carpenter, his stepmother Margaret Carpenter, siblings Harry Robert Carpenter and Willa Jane Mayle, and his son Wesley.
Dick is survived by his siblings John Carpenter , Ruth Ann Link, Myron Burt Carpenter, and Barbara née Carpenter, his sons, and their families and six grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
