Donald Albert Levy, 69, of New Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was deeply loved, fiercely proud of his family, and will be forever missed.
Born March 11, 1956, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Donald Levy and Betty (Wetzel) Levy.
Don was a 1974 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed at sea aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68). He was honorably discharged in 1980.
On May 14, 1983, Don married the former Elma Legrand, who survives.
Don was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, earning respect for his skill and reliability, and was a master of his trade.
He was a member of the VFW Post 415 of New Bethlehem, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1860 of New Bethlehem, and the Parker Allegheny Canby Lodge No. 521.
In his spare time, Don enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time tinkering in his garage. After retirement, he developed a passion for vegetable gardening. His garden was a source of great pride, and he especially enjoyed canning and sharing his harvest with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two daughters, Megan Hepler and her husband, Brandon, of New Bethlehem, and Adrienne Millis and her husband, David, of Alpharetta, Georgia.
Known lovingly as “Papa”, he cherished his four grandchildren, Hudson and Lincoln Hepler and Petra and Mara Millis. Don adored his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.
He is also survived by his siblings, Penny Kinch of Mt. Airy, Maryland, Kathy Best and her husband, Jim, of Emlenton, Deb Davis and her husband, Chuck, of St. Petersburg, and Robert Levy and his wife, Michelle, of St. Petersburg; brothers-in-law, Felicito Legrand, Jr. of New Bethlehem, Jim “Bud” Irwin of Emlenton, Hector Efrain Legrand and his wife, Yvette, and Hector Luis Legrand and his wife, Rose, both of Vieques, Puerto Rico; a sister-in-law, Nilda Rodriguez of Vieques, Puerto Rico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin Levy and William “Bill” Levy, and a sister, Holly Irwin.
Family and friends will be received from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Zachary Lays, pastor of the New Bethlehem First Church of God, officiating. Military honors will be accorded at by the American Legion Post 354 of New Bethlehem.
