Dorothy Lucille (Rowan) Brickey

     Dorothy Lucille Brickey, age 90 of Knox, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

     Born February 20, 1934 in Shippenville, she was a daughter of the late Albert Rowan and Clara Wagner Rowan.

     She graduated from the Shippenville School in 1953 and moved to California, where she met Clifford Lee Brickey.

    Dorothy and Clifford married on March 28, 1958 in El Paso, Texas, and together they had six children; Lucille (Kenny) Edwards of New Jersey, Gerald (Rebecca) Brickey of Knox, Ronald (Rhonda) Brickey of North Carolina, Franklin Brickey of Shippenville, Wayne (Tricia) Brickey of North Carolina and Linda (Paul, Jr.) Wingard of Shippenville.

    She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Keith, Franklin and Matthew Edwards; Joshua, Leah, Meghan, Amanda, Aimee, Hannah, Tyler and McKenzie Brickey, and Natalie and Ainsley Wingard, and 9 great grandchildren: Kenneth, Riley, Samantha and Ryan Edwards; Brenden and Emilee Brickey; Olivia and Xavier Peregrine, and Luke Adkins.

     Dorothy loved spending time with her family and her extended family from the Shippenville congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with whom she was associated with for 50 years.

     Many will remember that she always had the biggest smile. She was tagged by all of her children as “the kindest, best mom, ever.” She will be greatly missed.

     Dorothy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vanessa Wingard (stillbirth); sister, Mary, and three brothers: Norman, Bill and Henry.

     Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

     A service will immediately follow.

     Following the service, a meal and time of fellowship will be held in the social hall of the Knox Volunteer Fire Company, 514 E. Railroad Street, Knox.  The family invites and encourages everyone to join them and share their favorite memories of Dottie.
