Elizabeth "Betty" Wentling Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Wentling, age 93 of Wentlings Corners, passed to her eternal home into the loving arms of Jesus her Savior on June 3, 2026.

Betty was the daughter of Peter and Irene Miczikus.  She was born on April 4, 1933, in New York, but she spent most of her young life in Erie until she married Edward Wentling in 1950 and settled for a simple life in Wentlings Corners, with Ed, and having eight children.  Betty and Ed lived beside her in-laws, Stanley and Emma Wentling with Emma teaching her the fine skills of being a good, country wife and mother.

Betty was a stay-at-home mother until Wolf's KOA, now Wolf’s Camping Resort, opened in 1972.  She was the main cook there into her mid 70s, when she switched to event rentals for the Wolf's Den, until she could no longer do so well into her 80s.  She also worked at the Holiday Inn as a waitress and Clarion University food service with many coworkers and students she remembered fondly and who have remembered her. She, however, considered those at Wolf's Camping Resort as much her family as her own, and many of her dearest friends from the campground preceded her in death.  With great appreciation to Pete Titley and Debra McBride, Betty lived contentedly at the campground until her final residence at Clarion Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Betty is survived by her children: Barbara Babusci (Bill), Beverly Richter (Albert), Debra Hasty (Steve), Cynthia Najera, Edward Wentling, Jr. (Carol), Linda Miller (Randy), Thomas Wentling (Lesly Smith), and David Wentling (Mary Fox).  She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jodi (Tori) and Daniel (Danielle) Hartle, David and Justin McGilvrey, Edward Wentling, III (Ann), Jessica Collar (Brian), Edward Perez, Jr., Angelica Perez-Johnston (Matthew), Elizabeth Wentling-Kemmer (Shane), Brandon Wentling (Candace), Nakol Wentling (Erin), Brett Wentling, and Joseph Wentling. Her great grandchildren include Braeden, Kole, and Jaxson Wentling; Hailey, Isabella, and Gunner Collar; Breadon Walker; Piper and Bo Wentling; Delaney and Brody Wentling, and Tripp McGilvrey. Joni (Metts) Yeany and her husband Greg as well as Dottie (Raybuck) Styers were as close to Betty as her own children. Her friend Susie Lahr was very caring in her final days as well. She is also survived by her beloved sister Patricia Rogers (Texas). Betty has numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews scattered from Erie to Texas.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Irene Miczikus, in-laws Stanley and Emma Wentling, her husband Edward Wentling, Sr., brothers Peter, William, and John Miczikus, sisters Florence Greenawalt and Mary Romanski, son-in-law Richard Najera, and grandson Benjamin Perez.

Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc, 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home with Pastor Timothy Farkas officiating. A luncheon will be provided at Chapel on the Hill in Emlenton, 6202 Emlenton Clintonville Rd.
