Emily Cheke Verner Obituary

Emily Christine Cheke Verner, age 25 of Strattanville, formerly of Knox, passed away on June 1, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend whose kindness, compassion, and creativity touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her husband, Tristan Verner; her beloved son, Kason Cheke of Knox; her parents, Charles Alan Cheke and Tracy Christine Cheke of Knox; her brothers, Michael Huffman of Knox and Kyle Cheke (Tabatha Cheke) of Corsica; her grandmother, Deanne Wilson, and her grandparents, Don and Kathy Wilson, all of Knox. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Emily was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alex Cheke and Toni Cheke.

She dedicated much of her life to helping others through her work at Clarion Psychiatric Hospital and the Community Guidance Center, where she built a career supporting individuals with mental health needs. She poured empathy, patience, understanding, and creativity into her work, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she cared for.

In life, Emily found her greatest joy in creativity and nature. She loved creating paintings, jewelry, and artwork that now fill the homes and hearts of those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed hiking, traveling, and kayaking, always finding peace and inspiration in the world around her. One of her greatest passions was creating and sharing art through her pop-up shop, Pours For Daze, a venture she was incredibly proud of. Emily also had a special love for animals, especially her three beloved cats, who were cherished members of her family.

Those who knew Emily will remember her for her open heart, caring nature, and ability to make others feel welcome and valued. Her beauty was unmatched, extending far beyond her appearance and into every piece of art she created and every life she touched. She gave her love freely, offered support without hesitation, and brought warmth to every room she entered. Her generosity, artistic spirit, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Deeply loved and profoundly missed, Emily's memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion, creativity, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends for years to come.
