Frank Dunkle Obituary

     Frank L Dunkle, Jr. aka “Skip”, age 54 of Knox, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024 after an extensive hospital stay at Veterans Hospital Pittsburgh.

     He was born on August 11,1969 in Oil City.  

     Frank is survived by his wife, Leslie A. Dunkle, of Knox, whom he married on July 5, 2001; His son, Austin M. Beach and wife, Hannah, of New Bethlehem, and two step-daughters, Lindsey R. McClure of Andover, Ohio and Bryar Leigh E. McClure of Franklin.

     He is also survived by his parents, Frank and Mary Dunkle of Seneca, and two brothers: J. Scott Dunkle and wife, Tamra, of Rockland and Michael D. Dunkle and wife, Samantha, of Statesville, NC.

     Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping as a child.  After graduating in 1988 from Cranberry High school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served for 22 years.  He then went on to serve 8 years in the U.S. Army.

       In 1989-1990, Frank served in Panama for Jungle Warfare school and served on the Honduras border in support of America's War on Drugs.  Frank went on to serve in Desert Storm,1991 with the 5th regiment.  In Iraq Freedom, 2008-2009, as a military policeman.  Frank was a highly decorated combat veteran.  He was honorably discharged in 2017.

     After service, Frank was a wonderful, loving husband who enjoyed motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and spending time with family and friends.

     He took great pride in helping other veterans with support and information to assist them in their daily lives.

     Frank was a member of the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 in Knox, Clarion VFW-Spec. Ross A. McGinnis Post #2145, and the Clarion County Rod and Gun Club in Knox.

     Family and friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc, 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

     Military Honors will be accorded immediately following in the funeral home by the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox.

     In lieu of flowers, the family wishes monetary donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org. in memory of Frank.
