Grace Evelyn (Bowersox) Allen

Grace Evelyn Bowersox Allen, 99, of Dover, Ohio passed away September 26, 2024.  She was born December 7, 1924, in St. Charles, Pennsylvania the youngest child of the late George M. and Lena Brown Bowersox.

She graduated from Porter High School class of 1942.  She worked several jobs in New Bethlehem, PA before her marriage to Venton (Bud) Allen on May 3, 1947.  The moved to New Philadelphia, Ohio in 1950 where they raised their three children.  As an adult she baked buns for the Peppermill Restaurant and was a long-time election poll worker.  As a member of the New Philadelphia First Church of God, she was active in the Women of the Church of God and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.  She was also actively involved in the Winfield Homemakers.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Venton, of 51 years and her daughter Rhonda (late Joe) Blair; brother, Warren Darl (Mary) Bowersox; and sister, Bernice Marie (late Arthur) Shoemaker.  She is survived by her sons, Ernie (Karen) Allen of New Martinsville, West Virginia; and Tracy (Kim Brown) Allen of West Lafayette, Ohio.  Four grandchildren, Allen (Teri) Blair, Nathan (Michelle) Allen, Dianna (Louis) Tarone, and Natalie Allen; eight great grand-children; and four great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 30, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia.  Interment will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Oakland Cemetery, Distant, Pennsylvania.
