Isaac W. Schrecengost, age 95 of New Bethlehem, passed away Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning.
Born March 21, 1930 in Putneyville, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Samuel West Schrecengost and Mary Jane Vasbinder Schrecengost.
He joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War as a PFC in the Field Artillery Branch.
Isaac married the former Norma J. Johnston and she survives.
He retired as an equipment operator and was a member of the Distant Baptist Church; Walter W. Craig American Legion Post #354 of New Bethlehem and was a lifetime member of the Distant Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Norma: daughter, Linda Truitt and her husband, Les, of Distant, and her children: Mitch (Heidi) McGuire, Martin (Jordan) McGuire, Jason (Nici) Truitt and Steve (Hillary) Truitt, her grandchildren: Mason McGuire, Marissa McGuire, Anthony McGuire, Haylee Rose and Sophie Truitt, and great grandson, Maddox Milliron; son, Randy Schrecengost and his wife, Kelly, of New Bethlehem, and his children: Bridget (Chris) Young, Randi Renee’ (Kyle) Negendank, Taylor Schrecengost and Nicholas (Marissa) Schrecengost, and grandchildren: Isaac and Abigail Young, Kyle Jr. and Renley Negendank, and Waylon and Kinley Schrecengost; daughter, Sheri Lynn Toy-Veronesi and her husband, Jeff, of Distant, and her children: Brian Toy (Jay), Brody Toy (Sarah) and Brooklynn Veronesi, and grandchildren: Claire, Brody and Derek Toy; and son, Kevin Schrecengost and his wife, Cindy, of Distant, his daughter, Kristin Brink, and granddaughter, Ella Brink.
In addition to his parents, Isaac was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Schrecengost; great grandson, Alex McGuire; three brothers: Emerson, Golden and Samuel, and a sister, Lilian Anthony.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem and from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Distant Baptist Church, 2238 Madison Road, Distant.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the church, with Pastor David Westover officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the Walter W. Craig American Legion Post #354 of New Bethlehem and Last Call will be conducted by the Distant Volunteer Fire Department.
Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
