Jane C. Paine, age 94, or Mansfield, Connecticut, and formerly of Knox, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 in Connecticut.
Born in West View, she was the daughter of the late Elsie B. and John M. Hammer.
She was a graduate of the White Memorial High School in Knox and the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Pittsburgh.
Jane worked at the office of Dr. Theodore Koenig, MD in Knox and later at the Student Health Center at Clarion University.
While living in Knox, she was an active member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, a leader and camp nurse in the Girl Scouts, and enjoyed spending time at Cook Forest.
Jane loved singing all her life and was a member of the Mansfield Senior Center Chorus for many years.
She married George K. Paine of Clarion in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1959. She married again in 1988, to Charles B. Buechele of East Brady and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include two daughters: Pamela J. Paine and her husband, Douglas S. Hamilton, of Mansfield, Connecticut and Patricia A. Paine and her daughter, Helena Leonardos of Brasilia, Brazil.
Jane is also survived by Charles’ large and loving family.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John M. Hammer, Jr. and Philip G. Hammer, and her grandson, Othon Leonardos.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox with a private graveside service to follow in the Knox Union Cemetery.
Family and friends will then join together for a luncheon at the Carriage Inn in Knox at 12:15 p.m.
