Jeffrey David Pyne, age 61, of Knox, passed away on Saturday morning, August 3, 2024 after being stricken with a sudden illness.
Born August 16, 1962 in Brookville, he was a son of Ellen Carol Shick Pyne and the late John Michael Pyne, Sr.
Immediately following graduation from Redbank Valley High School in 1982, he joined the United States Navy, serving on the USS Boone.
Jeff retired from the Navy after 21 years of service and moved from Naval Station Mayport Florida back to Pennsylvania where he went to work at Penn West Homes in Emlenton as a material handler.
He enjoyed gardening, antiquing and tinkering around the house.
Survivors include his mother, Ellen Carol Pyne on New Bethlehem; four children: Lieutenant Commander Michael (Mary) Pyne of Alexandria, Virginia, Rebecca and Greg Moyer of Newmanstown, Brandon (Sara) Pyne of Summerville, and Brittany (Eddie) Jones of Nahunta, Georgia, and 16 grandchildren: Ian, Brian, Ethan, Erik, Elyssa, Melissa, Damien, Naveah, Michael, Ruth, Owen, Isaiah, Jordan, Adelynn, Cecelia and Edwin Jr.
Jeff is also survived by five brothers: John Michael Pyne, Jr. of Georgia, Richard Thomas Pyne of Clarion, James Edward (MaryAnn) Pyne of St. Marys, Robert Eugene (Angela) Pyne and Jerry Shawn Pyne, both of Rimersburg.
He shared his life with longtime companion, Janice Shaffer, of Knox.
In addition to his father, Jeff was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Pyne.
Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc, 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Military Honors will be accorded at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in the funeral home by the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox followed by a eulogy from his son, Michael, and a time of sharing memories of Jeff.
