John F. Hartle Jr., age 84 of Shippenville, passed away Sunday morning July 6, 2025 at
Shippenville Healthcare, following a period of illness.
Born in Shippenville on March 19, 1941, he was the son of John Hartle, Sr. and Anna
Belle Fry Hartle.
John married, Jean Crawford on August 18, 1973, who preceded him in death in
2020.
He graduated from Keystone High School then went on to be an owner/operator in the
trucking industry. He eventually became the sales and service manager at Hunter Truck
Sales in Eau Claire.
John was an active member of the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox,
where he served on the honor guard. He was a past member of the Shippenville Elk Fire
Department. He also served in the US Army, in Vietnam.
He is survived by one daughter: Melissa Hartle of Knox; one grandson: Kaydin Hartle of
Knox; one brother: Gary (Joan) Hartle of Oil City; three sisters: Doris (John) Hartle Servette
of Pittsburgh, Rose Hartle Schreckengost of Shippenville, and Janice (Mark) Hartle Black of
Knox.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a son, Keith Alan
Hartle, in 1989, and a sister, Mary Kay Hartle.
Family and friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the
William N. Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Military Honors will be accorded at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Interment will follow at the Cedarview Cemetery.
