Johnny Thomas Heeter, age 96 of Knox, passed away Thursday morning, January 22, 2026 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following a period of declining health.
Born August 26, 1929 in Callensburg, he was the son of the late Russell W. Heeter and Dorathy M. Rhea.
He was a 1948 graduate of Sligo High School.
Johnny married the former Charlotte H. Cole on November 23, 1950, in the Callensburg Methodist Church, and she survives.
He retired in 1989 after 30 years with Penelec customer service.
Johnny was a member of the Edenburg Lodge #550; Lodge of Perfection; New Castle Consistory; Knox Lions Club and the Edenburg Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Colette (Les) Barnett of Fredericktown, Ohio; granddaughter, Carlen (Steve) Irwin of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, and great grandchildren, Knox and Claire.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Russell.
The Knox Lions Club and Edenburg Lodge #550 will honor their departed brother at private family services on Wednesday evening, January 28, 2026 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Family and friends will be received 10-11 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026 in the funeral home with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Sligo Cemetery.
