Lawrence J Lander

     Lawrence J. Lander, age 86 of New Bethlehem, passed away Sunday evening, November 30, 2025 at Clarion Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

     Born August 26, 1939 in Lucinda, he was a son of the late John Lander and Louise Judy Lander.  He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School in Lucinda.

     Larry was a veteran of the United States Army.

     He married the former Ella Burkhouse on May 27, 1967 and she preceded him in death on September 14, 1989.  He later married Lois Aikins Phillips on June 22, 1991 and she preceded him in death on August 11, 2009.

     Larry was a glaze maker for Glen-Gery Brick Manufacturing until retiring.

     He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem; Knights of Columbus, and the Clarion American Legion Post #066.

     Larry enjoyed bowling and loved his cats and puzzles.

     Survivors include his son, Wesley (Michelle) Lander of Strattanville; granddaughter, Danica Lander; brothers: Ronald Lander of Marienville, Leo (Edye) Lander and Robert (Linda) Lander, both of Lucinda; sisters: Elizabeth Rapp and Jeanine Schmader, both of Shippenville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents and wives, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde and John, and sister, Audrey.

     Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 201 Washington Street, New Bethlehem.  Father Samuel Bungo, parish priest, will serve as celebrant.

     The Clarion American Legion Post #066 will accord military honors at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the church.

      Interment will follow in the Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville.
