Lillian Sue McPherson Henderson, age 87 of New Bethlehem, passed away at home on Wednesday March 11, 2026.
Born July 8, 1938, in Reynoldsville, she was the daughter of the late Ernest D. McPherson and Lillian June Smith McPherson and was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School.
Lillian married Wayne K. Henderson on July 27, 1959, and he preceded her in death in December of 2005.
She was a homemaker for all her married life. She had a green thumb and enjoyed attending to her inside and outside plants.
Lillian loved her family and was proud of her grandchildren and their families. She especially loved the time she spent with the great grandchildren.
She was an animal lover her entire life and had a soft spot over the years for Boston Terriers and Boxers, and most recently for her cats, who were her constant companions.
Lillian was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem and attended regularly while she was able.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Brown and husband, Lex, of New Bethlehem; granddaughter, Ashley Pence and husband, Evan, and their children: Adelynn, Bryella and Westyn Pence, and grandson, Matthew Brown and wife, Katelyn, and their children: Harlyn and Colson Henderson Brown (Lill’s namesake).
Lillian is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by Wayne’s parents, Albert and Helen Henderson; brother, Ernest O. McPherson; brother-in-law, William Henderson and wife, Edie, and a nephew, Eric Henderson.
The family extends a special “Thank you” to Laura Keen, who was so much more than a caretaker, and to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice team for their care and compassion.
Family and friends will be received from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Curtis Twigg, Associate Pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in the Salem Cemetery at Frogtown.
