Lucille Jean Henry Shaner, age 93 of Kossuth, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
She was born February 11, 1933, in Knox to the late Wilbur B. Henry and Grace Garris Henry. She married William “Bill” Shaner on February 4, 1954. They were married 69 years before his passing on February 7, 2023.
Lucille attended Ashland High School and graduated in 1951. She went to work at Knox Glass Bottle Co. and later worked for Knox Glass Associates, Inc.
She enjoyed her flowers and gardening, baking birthday cakes for grandchildren, and making homemade candy at Christmas and Easter for family and neighbors. However, she was probably best known for her delicious fruit and cream pies.
Lucille was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and served there in many capacities.
She is survived by her children: Diane (David) McMunn of Knox, Richard (Sue) Shaner of Knox, David Shaner of Topsfield, MA, and Shawn (Amy) Shaner of Slippery Rock. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Jessica (Bryan) Morphy of Erie, Kyle (Brittany) McMunn of Wapakoneta, OH, Corey (Kristen) Shaner of Canfield, OH, Cody (Tini) Shaner of Bellefonte, Chelsey (Christian) Porterfield of Grove City, Jonathan Shaner of Middleton, MA, Taylor (Ian) Craig of Slippery Rock and Makenna Shaner of Butler; 12 great grandchildren, and sister, Rose McCleary of Knox.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene McMurray of Franklin, a brother-in-law, John McMurray, and a brother-in-law, Mack McCleary.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2026, at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 937 Twin Church Road, Knox, with the Reverend Ken Tack officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Union Cemetery.
