Minnie Ann (Guthrie) Smail, age 95 of Distant, passed away on June 24, 2025 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville.
She was born at home in Distant on December 11, 1929. She was a daughter of the late Walter “Mike” Guthrie and Florence Allen Guthrie.
Minnie was a graduate of the New Bethlehem High School. She then married the late Marlin R. “Smick” Smail Jr. on Dec. 12, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2014.
Minnie loved cooking, baking, housekeeping, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida for the last 15 years.
Minnie is survived by a son, Bruce (DeeDee) Smail and a daughter, Vicki Adams; Four grandchildren Keli (Terry) Reddinger, Jennifer (Justin) Moore, Kara (Mat) Lechene, and Mitchell Smail; Nine great grandchildren: Andrew (Brooke), Emma, Nicholas, Ava, Trenton, Madisyn, Elliott, Emery and Sidni; and two great-great grandchildren: Hudson and Bowen.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brother, Eugene Walter Guthrie and infant brother, Robert Guthrie; sister, Madalene Herbert, and a son-in-law, Bruce Adams Jr.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday June 28, 2025 at the Oakland Church of God, 122 Kohlersburg Road, Distant.
A funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the church. Revered Jimmy Swogger will officiate the service.
Interment will take place in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Minnie’s name to the Oakland Church of God “Blessing Bags”, P.O. Box 40, Distant, PA 16223.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff at Water Run, McKinley Health and AseraCare Hospice for taking care of Minnie.
