Ralph E. Baylor, age 87 of Knox, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2025, at his home following an illness.
Born May 9, 1937 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, he was a son of the late John Clark Baylor and Blanche Mildred Krueger Baylor.
He was a 1955 graduate of Phillipsburg High School.
Ralph was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving for 4 years and attaining the rank of Sergeant E-4 and earning the Good Conduct Medal.
He married the former Connie Willison of New Bethlehem on April 4, 1959. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2022.
Ralph was a school bus driver while living in the New Bethlehem area, took a job with the United States Postal Service and eventually moved his family to Elk City. After 33 years, he retired as a rural mail carrier.
Following retirement, Ralph and Connie moved to Florida where he was a volunteer for the Lee County Sherriff Department. They eventually moved back to the Knox area to be near family.
He loved to attend the Providence Church and in earlier years enjoyed hunting, golf, bowling and tennis.
Ralph was a member of the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox and was a former member of the Knox Lions Club.
Survivors include two sons: Edward G. Baylor of Sharon and Eric R. Baylor of Knox; two grandchildren: Kayla (Michael) Bauer of Shippenville and Braden Baylor of Knox, and three great grandchildren: Ella, Reyna and Hudson.
Ralph is also survived by his sister, Mildred Dalrymple, of Fort Myers, Florida; three sisters-in-law: Chelcie A. Croscutt of Knox, Victoria L. (John) Howell of Winter Haven, Florida, and Tina M. (Chet) Shreckengost of New Bethlehem, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Leroy and Harold Baylor, and two sisters, Rosanna Deemer and Evelyn Baylor
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Military honors will be accorded at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, by the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox.
Funeral services will immediately follow with Reverend Steve Ketner officiating.
Interment will take place in the Knox Union Cemetery.
