Ralph Eugene Kapp, 91, a resident of Knox, passed away Friday morning, August 30, 2024 at his home following a brief illness. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Born November 19, 1932, in Pine City, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Calvert Kapp and Cora McCool Kapp.
Ralph married the former Betty G. Weaver on January 27, 1951 and she survives.
He retired as a coal truck owner operator. In earlier years, he was a truck driver and equipment operator for Ancient Sun (Kahle Coal Co.) and was a member of the Turkey City Church of God.
Ralph played softball for the Ashland Hunting Club, where he played shortstop, then catcher for many years. He was a member of the NRA and he loved to hunt and fish.
His greatest love was his family and his grandchildren. He was commonly known by his family as one of the last “Good Ole Boys”.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, and three children: Shirley Von Roden of Newport Richey, Florida, Sharyon (Larry) Lauer of Knox, and Ray (Cindy) Kapp of Kossuth.
Ralph is also survived by eight grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris) Kelly, Lori Dowdy, Steven Salsgiver, Jayme (Tim) Chapman, Larry (Amy) Lauer, Chad (Lori) Lauer, Jeremy (Michele) Kapp, and Jennifer (Patrick) Burkhardt.
Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his in-laws, Lyle and Evelynn Weaver, two brothers, Shirl and Robert Kapp; one sister Alice, and four brothers-in-law: Arthur, Emil, Gerald, and Ronald.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in the funeral home with Reverend Corona Say and Reverend Tom Hannold co-officiating.
Interment with graveside committal will follow at Starr Cemetery.
