Ray Edwin Webb, age 93 of Lamartine, passed away early Friday morning, June 14, 2024 at The Caring Place in Franklin.
Born October 10, 1930 in Shippenville, he was a son of the late Walter Webb, Sr. and Mabel Johnson Webb and attended the Ashland Township School.
He married the former Lottie Jane King on June 30, 1952 and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2022.
Ray joined the United States Army in October of 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a tank mechanic on the 38th parallel and was honorably discharged in October of 1954.
He was a gifted mechanic with small and big engines, gas and oil wells, old cars and tractors, and had a God given talent for welding.
Ray loved teaching and sharing his knowledge. He worked for Donaldson’s and Quaker State Refinery in Emlenton and retired from National Fuel Gas in Oil City in 1987.
He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah and the Dehart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post #997 of Salem.
Ray and his wife of nearly 70 years enjoyed traveling and spending time with their families.
Survivors include two sons: Bob (Kim) Webb of Kossuth and Dan (Donna) Webb of Titusville; daughter, Cheri (Chuck) Conner of Knox; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Ray is also survived by his sister, Lois Marie Runninger.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Bernadine Garner, June Horner and Irene Reed, and three brothers: Walt Webb, Jr., Jim Webb and Carl Webb.
Ray was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, McKenna Rea Peebles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, 2561 Grace Church Road, Knox. Pastor Michael Will, from the church, will officiate. Military honors will be accorded at the beginning of the service.
Interment will take place in the Fern Trinity E.C. Cemetery.
