Robert Alan Burgdorfer

     Robert Alan Burgdorfer, age 86 of Knox, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 4, 2026, at his home following an illness.

     Born February 12, 1940, in Fertigs, he was a son of the late Frank Burgdorfer and Annie Storrie Burgdorfer.

     He married the former Barbara Ann McElhattan on October 28, 1960, and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2018.

    Bob attended welding and electrical school and was a welder for Knox Glass. He retired as a teacher’s aide from the Clarion County Career Center.

     He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

     Bob is survived by two daughters: Julie Kahle and her husband, Dan Sr. of Knox and Jennifer Welton and her husband, Bud, of Fertigs; eight grandchildren: Dan Kahle Jr., Katrina Dye, Amanda Olech, Shawn Burgdorfer, Noah Welton, Amelia “Molly” Welton, Mitchell Vandlen and Mason Vandlen, and four great grandchildren: Jason Dye, Shawnee Dye, Luke Olech and Clara Olech.

    He is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Connie Whitmore and Laura Darlene McElhattan.

     In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Randy Burgdorfer; four brothers: Charles, Sydney, Frank and John Burgdorfer, and five sisters: Annabelle Vogan, Helen Roetering, Kathleen Jarrell, Mary Burgdorfer and Ruby Burgdorfer.

     Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2026, and from 10-11 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

     Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, in the funeral home, with Reverend John Friedlund, pastor of the Grace E. C. Church, officiating.

     Interment will follow at the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
