Robert Edward Gunya, of Shippenville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on January 11, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, Robert lived a life defined by hard work, creativity, devotion to family, and a passion for building things with his hands and heart. An accomplished businessman, he made lasting contributions to the utility industry through the design and assembly of utility trailers in Shippenville, Pennsylvania. His dedication, innovation, and craftsmanship earned him the respect of colleagues, customers, and friends throughout the years.
Outside of his business accomplishments, Bob was widely known for his extraordinary creativity and love of antique and classic cars. He enjoyed building and redesigning many classic vehicles, each reflecting his own personality and unmistakable style — always powered by his preferred Chevy engine. His talent, vision, and enthusiasm for automobiles brought joy not only to himself, but to everyone fortunate enough to see his work.
Above all else, Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend to many. He cherished time with his family and leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, humor, and unconditional love.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Gunya; his daughters, Coleen Gunya-Kipin and Mary Mealy-Harrison; his sons-in-law, Pete Kipin and Ted Harrison; and his treasured grandchildren, Sara, Ethan, and Elijah Kipin, and Ashley and Tyler Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his loving son and business partner, Rob Gunya. We find comfort knowing they are now reunited with our Heavenly Father.
Robert’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of creativity, perseverance, and love for family will continue to inspire generations to come.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc. of Knox.
