Ronald Droske, Sr. Obituary

Ronald Edward Droske Sr., of Dayton, PA, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025 at the age of 92. He was surrounded by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Alice Augenstein Droske, and their four children. Ron was born on October 11, 1932 to the late Stephen John Droske Jr. and the late Roselyn Loretta Troglione.

Beginning at a young age, Ron had an incredible work ethic. From grocery delivery and butchery at his father's store to working at the Union Railroad right out of high school, he put dedication into every job he held. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army on active duty from 1953-1955 with honorable discharge.  He then returned to the Union Railroad honing skills in field wiring, bricklaying, and engineering. On July 6, 1957, he married Alice and later used his wide knowledge of craftsmanship to build their family home in Monroeville, PA. Ron quickly worked his way up at US Steel, starting as a custodian and eventually became a structural testing supervisor. Also during the 1960s and 1970s, he joined the Monroeville Police Department, served as a councilman, and was mayor of Monroeville. After retirement, Ron and Alice relocated to Dayton, PA creating a family haven where four generations continue to gather and make memories. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsmen’s Club, a life member of the NRA, and a proud recipient of the Pennsylvania Game Commission Triple Trophy Award at the age of 88.

Ron is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Lynn (Robert) Graper, Corrine (Scott) Henderson, Ronald (Jennifer) Droske Jr. and Robert (Catherine) Droske; sisters, Loretta (the late Robert) Cole, Isabel (Bert) Thomas, Mary (Steve) Crosby, and Ada (John) Sklenar; 12 grandchildren, Ronald Droske III, Daniel (Katie) Graper, Shawn (Laura) Henderson, Kristy (Daniel) Murphy, Erica (Matthew) O'Donnell, Monica (Jason) Moore, Chelsea (William) Taylor, Victoria (Christopher) Caplan, Shane Droske, Scout Droske, Tyken Droske, and Kiera Droske; as well as 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Joann) Droske, and granddaughter, Leah Droske.

A funeral service/celebration of life will be held at the family home on Saturday, August 30th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
