Roy Edsel Wyant

     Roy Edsel Wyant, age 96 of New Bethlehem, passed away early Thursday morning, July 11, 2024 at Highland Oaks at Water Run in Clarion.

     Born January 25, 1928 in New Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Arnold Banks Wyant, Sr. and Gladys Burns Wyant. He was a graduate of Porter School.

     He married the former Nancy Douds on October 2, 1945 and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2018.

    Roy worked as a heavy equipment operator for C & K Coal until age 38 at which time he began stripping coal for himself as the R.E. Wyant Coal Company.

     He attended the Grace Community Church in Curllsville and enjoyed fishing and traveling to all 50 states. 

     Roy was an avid camper and loved tending his garden and orchard.

     Survivors include a son, Robert Charles Wyant of Fenelton; six grandchildren: Jacquelyn (Gregg) Meyer, Tracie Milliron, Wende (Dan) Mitchell, Tim Wyant, Charlie (Renae) Wyant and Todd (Jamie) Wyant.

     Roy is also survived by numerous great and great great grandchildren, and two brothers, Harold Wyant and Dean Wyant.

     In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Roy Wyant; brothers: Max, Fred, Bud, Arnold and Art, and sisters: Helen, Arlene, Larue and Dorothy.

     Family and friends will be received from 5-7 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2024 and from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

     Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel, with Charlie Wyant officiating.

     Interment will take place in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery in Porter Township, Clarion County.
