Wendell E Schwab 94 of Venus entered heaven and joined his beloved Dottie on October 16, 2024.
He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family, in the home he was born in, on the family farm.
Wendell was born on January 6, 1930, to Lloyd and Bernice Schwab.
In 1957 he married the Love of his life Dorothy Fry who preceded him in death in 2000.
He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean war.
He was a member of the Venus United Evangelical church where he sang in the men’s choir and taught Sunday school for many years.
He was proud to be a lifelong dairy farmer until his retirement at age 90.
He is survived by his children Julie Schwab (former son in law JR Nych), Joy (Jeff) Shotts, Jeff Schwab, and Jone (Bill) McKissick all of Venus, and Jennifer Schwab of Clarion.
Also, Grandchildren Kayla Clark and boyfriend Kelly Giltinan, Savanna (Eric) Asche, Skyler (Monica) Shotts, Chad (Emily) McKissick, Chase McKissick, Channing (Julianna) McKissick, Chelsea McKissick and boyfriend Kolin Zacherl, Michael (Danielle) LaVan, Matthew LaVan and McKenna (Terry) Hornberger.
He has 18 Great Grandchildren and 2 on the way.
He was a very proud Papa and Great Papa.
Also survived by sisters Marian Hartzell-Aaron, Donna Morrison, Carole Pasquarette and Sisters in law Beverly Schwab and Donna Moon Brothers in law Jerry Pasquarette and Dennis Norma Fry and a Very Special friend Jean Davis.
In 2022 he was honored to be the Grand Marshall of the Fryburg Mayfest Parade. He is well known for his participation in the parade, tractor show, and tractor pulls with his 1937 John Deere " Jonathon". Wherever he went, he wore a smile.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and Eastern Milk Producers.
In 1995 he was recognized with a Century Farm Award, and also for refurbishing the Kapp one room schoolhouse where he attended as a boy.
Many young men who have worked on the farm attribute him for sharing his knowledge and work ethic.
He is very well known and respected in the community.
He recently hosted his annual barn party which he was able to attend. He delighted in visiting his friends and seeing the younger generation learning to square dance, an activity that he always enjoyed.
In recent years, his passion was restoring antique tractors and relaxing in his garage. He also enjoyed reading and watching Westerns.
He was preceded in death by infant son James Sherl, his parents, infant sister Judy and Brothers Wade and Raymond and several in-laws.
Friends and Family will be received at the Faller/Rupert Funeral home in Fryburg. The hours are Saturday October 19th from 6-8 and Sunday October 20th 2-4 and 6-8. The Funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 at the Venus United Evangelical Church with Rev. Richard Kightlinger. Internment will take place at the Venus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Venus United Evangelical Church toward the Pavilion project.
