Betty J. Barlett, age 90, of New Bethlehem, passed away Monday evening, April 18, 2016 at her home following an illness.
Born October 26, 1925 in Climax, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Jennie Bish Boyer.
She married Paul Barlett on September 21, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1991.
Betty was a cook for the Redbank Valley School District, retiring from the high school cafeteria after 17 years of service. She was a member of the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband, playing cards with the card club, sitting on her front porch and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Survivors include two daughters: Sharon Klepfer and her husband, Vic, of New Bethlehem and Sandy Lingenfelter of Mayport; one son: Terry Barlett and his wife, Karen, of Wake Forest, North Carolina; seven grandchildren: Willie Barlett and wife, Carey; Lindy McGee, Joe Barlett, Holly Martin and her husband, Tony; Richie Lingenfelter, Shari Montgomery and her husband, Kirk and Scott Klepfer and his wife, Kerrie.
Betty is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and a brother, Bob Boyer and his wife, Carol, of Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Dorothy Campbell, Ruthann Smail and Duane Boyer.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Sarah Heppenstall officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Distant, Armstrong County.
